It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Owensboro-Daviess County. Okay, I'll confess it. It certainly doesn't feel like a winter wonderland outside, but Imagination Library of Daviess County is already spreading some Christmas cheer and decorating the halls with their newest Christmas ornament.

Imagination Library of Daviess County has been creating keepsake Christmas ornaments for two decades. Each year, they choose an iconic Owensboro landmark or business to immortalize.  In fact, there's an entire collection of Christmas ornaments that celebrate these beloved locations.

For instance, in 2024, the Imagination Library of Daviess County chose to honor Wonder Whip, one of the oldest restaurants in Owensboro.

Fun fact, since that ornament was released, Wonder Whip has announced an expansion after 70 years in business. A much-anticipated second location is under construction on Frederica Street near Wesleyan Park Plaza in the heart of town.

This year, Imagination Library has turned its attention to Reid's Orchard on the east side of Daviess County. The Reid family has been planting, growing, and feeding our community for generations- over 150 years to be exact. This year's ornament, which retails for $18, captures the Reid's Apple House. If you've ever visited the orchard, you know the Apple House is its heartbeat, its pulse.

The Apple House is loaded up with all the deliciousness you can imagine- peaches, apples, fresh veggies, slushies, ice cream, pies, cookies, and more.

Each Reid's Apple House ornament costs $18 plus tax. The 2025 ornament is now available at Crazy Me Gifts & Apparel, Danhauer Drugs and Health Equipment, Willow and Pine, and the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden gift shop. This ornament will also soon be available for purchase at Julep and, of course, at Reid's Orchard!  If you don't live locally, Imagination Library will ship to you.

Funds from ornament sales go directly to the Imagination Library mission of sending books to all registered children (ages 0 to 5) here in Daviess County!
