Routine Traffic Stop Leads OPD To Major Drug Bust
Late Tuesday evening the Owensboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit made a traffic stop leading to the arrest of Gerald L. Payne. When police approached the vehicle they smelled marijuana coming from inside. This lead them to find five pounds of marijuana valued at $15,000, a loaded carbine rifle, prescription pills, and $19,000. The items taken into custody are indicative from a trafficking operation according to OPD.
It was also stated that Gerald L. Payne, 31, was also involved in an undercover drug transaction within the last 6 months where he sold Cocaine.
