It's been a month since the official beginning of winter, and we've gotten to this point relatively unscathed. Aside from a few minor issues, cold snaps have been the biggest problem, if you can even call them that.

But now, it seems we're just a few days away from our first major winter storm of the season, and the tri-state and other areas along the Ohio River are bracing for a lot of accumulating snow. The National Weather Service grows more confident in this development by the minute.

It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue Urgent Need

While many of us are preparing to be snowed in this weekend, the It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue Shelter in Spencer County is dealing with a more dire concern. The facility's rural location often means it will lose power in the event of severe weather. Consequently, they need to move quick in finding foster homes for their Evansville animals in order to make room for the Spencer County animals that will be arriving in the days to come.

If you are able to do so, please visit the Spencer County It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue and see about becoming a temporary foster. The shelter is even offering a 50% off adoption fee to anyone who fosters and chooses to adopt by January 28th.

Spencer County It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue is located at 824 E. County Road North, Chrisney, Indiana. They're open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 5PM and on Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. On Thursday, they'll be transporting animals to the Evansville location.

Visit the shelter's Facebook page if you have any questions or need more information.
