So let's start with a big number. You guys like big numbers, right? I do. And this one, in context, is a whopper. Last night, when we were covering the severe weather that was marauding through the tri-state, we took note of the large number of tornado warnings that had been and were continuing to be issued. And that was just in our immediate area.

How Many Tornado Warnings Were Issued?

Then I awaken and see this Facebook post.

We weren't wrong, were we? Of course, you realize that not every tornado warning issued meant there was one on the ground. But it does mean that radar indicated that that was possible. What a night. I'm good for a while, by the way.

Was There a Tornado in Whitesville?

During our coverage, Whitesville KY in eastern Daviess County entered the conversation during a tornado warning that had been issued for the county. Daviess actually received multiple such warnings. The team at Eyewitness News WEHT/WTVW was concerned that there was damage out that way. After a few phone calls and messages to pertinent parties, we concluded nothing serious has happened there. I spoke with Brooke Morris Mendez earlier. She and her family are wonderful partners of our radio station during the St. Jude Radiothon. She also confirmed that there was no damage.

She shared images from her neighbor Todd Melton's Ring camera that are pretty startling. Take a look.

Clearly, anyone's cause for concern about our friends in Whitesville were justified, in retrospect. That everything is fine is a blessing and an absolute mind-blower.

Murray Tornado Video

And then, down in Murray KY...well, I'm not sure WHAT I would have done if I'd seen this in person. Do I run? Do I gaze? Terrifying and beautiful.

It looks like both a spaceship and a giant jellyfish in the sky. It also looks like a boon to Murray State meteorology professors, too.

I hope everyone reading this emerged from last night's maelstrom unscathed, or even relatively unscathed. I hope that remains the case as flooding rains fall throughout the rest of the week. Be safe.
