I was listening to the news this morning and heard that 'American Idol' would be making a return! How exciting is this? Will we have another Carrie, Kellie, Scotty, Trent or Lauren in our future? I sure hope so!

HUGE Kelly Clarkson fan right here!  And, yes.  I am an original American Idol voter.  The night of the Season One finale, I burned my phone up trying to make sure that Kelly would get enough votes to beat Justin Guarini in the final and earn the title of the first American Idol champion.  And this is why.  Her voice.  That voice!  On full display last night as Kelly returned to the show to guest

One of my absolute favorite songs of the past couple of years is Eric Paslay's "She Don't Love You."  And last night on American Idol, a contestant named Jenna Renae sat down at the piano and careered it.  This is AWESOME!

Prepare to a) be amazed and blown away by this 15-year-old's talent and b) to cry.  Last night on American Idol, Tristan McIntosh of Nashville blew the judges away with her performance of "Why, Baby, Why" by Mickey Guyton, then brought them to tears when her military mom showed up unannounced!

I confess I've never been a faithful American Idol viewer. I'm sure I've missed WAY more episodes than I've seen. But when I hear about a truly special vocalist, I'll look in.
