The Motels’ Martha Davis Discusses Her Exciting Concert in Owensboro
Friday night marks the finale of Friday After 5's 26th anniversary season in downtown Owensboro, KY. The lineup is headlined by some iconic bands from the 1980s. That lineup, which includes Bow Wow Wow and When In Rome, is headlined by Martha Davis and The Motels.
Earlier this week, Angel and I had the chance to chat with Martha about her trip to Owensboro and the concert finale to what has been an incredible season of live music on the riverfront.
We started out the interview with me reminding Martha about the hilarious manner in which she and I were first introduced.
Angel and I were fascinated to learn that Martha Davis and The Motels have quite a history with another incredibly popular band from the 80s. They used to share rehearsal space with The Go-Go's.
I grew up in the 80s and STILL love the music from that decade. Martha says that one of the things that really set it apart was the fact that no two bands sounded the same. The bands and their music were incredibly diverse.
The Motels also share some a piece of television history with some other legendary bands. They were once the musical guest on SNL and Martha has fond (and hysterical) memories from that experience and the show.
There's no doubt that Martha Davis and The Motels have enjoyed a long and rewarding career. Believe it or not, the journey of this band started over fifty years ago.
If you want to see Martha Davis and The Motels, be at Friday After 5 in downtown Owensboro on Friday, September 2nd. They'll be joined by Bow Wow Wow and When In Rome on the Jagoe Homes Riverfront Stage to celebrate the end of FA5's 26th Anniversary Season!
