The Winner of the $1.6 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot a No-Show
So this is interesting. Remember when the Mega Millions jackpot hit $1.6 billion in October? The winner has yet to step forward. What does this mean?
The mega winning ticket was sold in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Now while it's true the winner has 180 days to claim his/her prize, here's what happens if the jackpot remains unclaimed.
The store that sold the ticket will not get will not get its own $50,000 prize and all the states that sell Mega Millions will split the over billion dollar jackpot. That's 44 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
To further add to the mystery, in South Carolina, the winner can remain anonymous.
Um, Merry Christmas?
