WBKR presents Pumpkin Fest 2011 - Kentucky's Family Festival Friday night and all day Saturday and on Sunday. Chad broadcasts from the event to be held at the Sportscenter on West Parrish. Events include Owensboro's Got Talent contest,  the Miss and Mister Pumpkin Fest Pageant, Hamster Balls and the Bubbletruck is back. This year there's a Pet Parade at 1 o'clock Saturday. Chad is the judge!. Inside the Sportscenter is a silent auction.

In Livermore this weekend is the 5th Annual Livermore Riverfest.

There will be a classic car/truck show and two cruise-ins for car enthusiasts, as well as craft vendors, a variety of foods, music entertainment and activities for children. Saturday at 10am. First cruise at 11am. A corn hole tournament at 1pm at the riverfront. To participate in all events call 270-278-2113.

The James L. Yates American Legion Post #9 will be selling barbequed chickens at 14th and J.R. Miller blvd on Saturday starting at 11:00. Cost is $8.00 each. Funds raised during this sale goes to help support veterans, troops and our charitible foundations which include local children and youth progams.

The Hope for Harlie Poker Run is Saturday starting at Millay's Tavern in Knottsville. Bikes out by 12 pm  Last ones in by 5 pm  Meal and Auction to follow the ride.  $10 Meal Tickets -- $5 Poker Hands.  All donations go to Hope for Harlie to cover medical and travel expenses.

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will participate in the seventh annual hationwide Museum Day. All visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from Smithsonian.com can visit the Museum free of charge.

Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission to the museum for two people. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.
In celebration of Museum Day, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will be presenting special Star Lab shows at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM. Museum Day visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in OMSH’s Coal Mine tours at 11:30 am and 3:00 pm. Visitors must sign-in at the receptionist’s desk for a free pass for these guided, timed tours. THE COAL MINE, where patrons put on their hard hats and visit The Rudy Mine, a re-created Daviess County mine that was in operation from the late 19th Century through 1954.

 

Sunday is St Philips men's club Annual Burgoo and Raffle. Drive thru & carry out begin at 7:30am, cafeteria opens at 11am, burgoo, hamburgers, pies, and drinks, raffle tickets. Grand prize of $20k and 20 other prizes, drawing at 1:30pm.

Century Church 1301 Tammarck is having a Celebration of Faith & Christian Music in a free show Sunday at 3pm, featuring Firm Foundation, Josh Stone & the Greenroom Band, Glory Road Travelers, the Merritt Group and their own… Century Choir.

Friday it's the International Home of the Legends Thumbpicking Weekend kicking off with Hall of Fame inductions and show. Doors Open at 5:00 pm and Paul Moseley and Friends will be picking for a Pre-show at 6:00 pm.  The program for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Performances will begin at 7:00 pm.  The event will be held at the Merle Travis Music Center in Muhlenberg County at Powderly.  The Induction ceremony includes guest picking performances and picking by some of the nominees.  Just one part of a full weekend including the Thumb Picking Hall of Fame induction.
