Honestly, I had no interest or I had forgotten about the new FOX reality series, 'Utopia', but then I was watching the tail end of the 49ers/Cowboys game on Sunday, and I thought "why not?". Wow is the first word I would use to describe it.

In case you missed it Sunday night, here's a glimpse:

Think of this Dutch import as 'Big Brother' meets 'Survivor'. However, each current "pioneer" (cue my eyes rolling) can keep certain amenities. In the premiere episode, each member loads everything they want to keep into one big crate; the rest of what they brought, off-limits until the end of the year-long experiment. For example, I know I saw at least two pioneers smoking cigarettes?!? One of them was KY member Red or as his hash tag reads #HillbillyRed. I shake my head. According to his bio, Red hails from Cecilia, KY which is in Hardin Co, it's near Elizabethtown. Just once, I want the casting directors for these reality shows to think before they cast. No, I love Red, he's my favorite so far, but I think about the rest of the country watching will rush to judgement on his character.

Just a quick recap of the first episode, everyone met each other and everyone made assumptions about each other. In other words, the usual "let's put a bunch of people in a house/on an island/on three acres of land" scenario. They all put their stuff in the big crate, although Dave, who just got out of prison recently, thought he was being overlooked and he wasn't getting his say as to what he was going to put in the big crate. Oddly enough, by the end of the first episode, Dave and Red are becoming buddies. See? It's Utopia! Not so fast! Of course, with all reality shows like this, pioneers will come and go. One big difference, there's no big cash prize waiting for the pioneer who survives the entire year. He or she will just be the ultimate pioneer I guess who created his or her perfect utopia.

Of course, here's the rub. Just like 'Big Brother', there are cameras set up and they shoot 24/7, so, by the time the second episode airs Tuesday night, there could be dramatic changes. But I'm not sure, filming had to begin a least a week prior to Sunday. I've only watched 'Big Brother' a handful of times; I'm more a 'Survivor' girl. If you are in the least bit curious to watch the live feed, here you go (NSFW, viewer discretion advised, as this is uncut, uncensored footage).

If you are brave enough, 'Utopia' airs Tuesday and Friday nights on FOX 44 at 7pm CT. And if you are super brave, you can click here to find out how to audition. Remember, this is being filmed over the course of a year. Not everyone will last. Heck, I wouldn't.
