NBC’s Today Show Will Be Live from Bardstown Friday
If you've read anything I've written over the last couple of years, then you might know how much of an ambassador I am for small towns in Kentucky as film locations. Happily, that tax break for filmmakers has made that much more palatable recently.
Christmas in Bardstown
But in all my excitement over Hollywood taking notice of the Commonwealth, it never occurred to me that feel-good network morning shows should also look into the Bluegrass State's abundant charm. And it doesn't get much more charming than Bardstown KY, a perfectly beautiful city of just under 14,000. It's a showpiece any time of the year, but at Christmas? Fuhgeddaboutit.
In preparation for the arrival of the NBC Today Show crew, the city of Bardstown will shut down all or part of North 3rd Street from the traffic circle to Broadway avenue and the westbound lanes of Stephen Foster Avenue from 2nd to 4th Streets.
Speaking of Stephen Foster, I wonder if any members of The Today Show cast or crew will have an opportunity to take in the unique presentation that is An Old Kentucky Christmas Carol at My Old Kentucky Home. Or maybe even just a shout-out:
The Bardstown broadcast will be the final 2024 segment in The Today Show's series the Merriest Main Street Tour. The show's live reports will begin at 4:30 AM local time, and the city is asking folks to pack the courthouse square beginning at 7:30 AM.
It will likely be very cold, and you may be in for a bit of a walk, but when NBC comes to town to celebrate Christmas, that's a small price to pay.
