The most unfortunate road mishap that I can remember, one that I narrowly missed being involved in, took place when I was driving through Cincinnati one summer. A truck full of nails overturned on Interstate 75 and, well, you can guess what happened next...a domino effect of road closures and slow traffic across the Queen City.

In the hierarchy of bad traffic mishaps, that would have rank right up there. If you're commuting, you couldn't do much worse than a sea of nails on the highway.

Or could you?

Truck Full of Bees Crashes in Tennessee

What if you were driving through Knoxville, minding your own business, and a truck crashed, releasing its cargo of bees? Yes, bees. A million bees, as a matter of fact.

There were no injuries, but a ramp on Interstate 40 had to be closed. Mark Nagi, regional communications officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, posted this warning after the accident this morning.

Knoxville Bee Crash

Two things...first, my heart goes out to anyone who has to "corral bees." Although I'm guessing that for any beekeeper, that's par for the course. Secondly, I wonder how many people dug their beekeeper uniform and hood out of the closet and paid a visit. (Probably a bad idea, no matter what Nagi said.)

All the bees were removed from the area, and the "buzz" has died down, so to speak. You know, this isn't the first time Knoxville has dealt with a swarm.

But I bet its residents hope it's the last.
