Illinois Restaurant Offers Insane Hamburger Challenge – Prepare to Meat Your Match!

Owensboro Burger Week is currently underway and burger lovers in Owensboro, KY and surrounding areas are making their way through the nearly 50 burgers being showcased in this year's event. A record number of participating restaurants have created an $8 burger to sell from March 7th through the 15th and they're competing for the title of Grand Champion.

Some locals are doing their very best to try every single burger competing. There's no doubt that it's a challenge. Think about it. There are nine days in Owensboro Burger Week 2025 and there are 49 burgers. To eat them all, you'd have to knock back an average of five burgers per day. It's a tall order, but some folks are up for it.

Speaking of tall orders, there's a burger joint in Mount Carmel, Illinois that has its own burger-eating challenge and you get to set the height of the bar (or the bun). Here's how it works!

THE TWO FARMERS BURGER CHALLENGE

Two Farmers created the challenge when they opened. They describe it as a 'simple' challenge where, "if somebody comes and eats a burger that has has never been eaten before, they have the rights to that burger." There are just two rules: 1) You have to finish the entire burger within an hour and 2) you have to "keep it down."

The challenge starts at 5 burgers and goes up as high as anybody dares. Here's a look at the named burgers and the burger fan who earned the naming rights. As you can see, Cliff Vinson was the first person to eat a burger with five patties. Appropriately, he named #5 'The Clifftop.'

Since this list was published, Two Farmers has added some names to it. The #18 was completed just a couple of days by Donald "Buck" Davis. So, he named his creation the "Buck Nasty."

And, believe it or not, last week, a guy named Eli attempted to eat a tower of 30 burger patties (the biggest in Two Farmers' history) and DID IT!!

Eli's 30-patty burger weighed over 5 pounds and he, somehow, miraculously, at the entire thing in just 24 minutes. He then named it after his dad. It's called "The Don."

If you're playing the Two Farmers home game, taking note, and making your own plan of attack, there are just a handful of burgers that have never been completed: 19, 24, 26,27,28, and 29.

Two Farmers says, "We have had many try and fail! It's quite a fun little thing we have going."
