Sure, the Vanderbilt Commodores were short-handed--only nine available players. But a conference road game is a conference road game. And any team that plays college basketball is happy to get a win on the road.

Your conference opponents just know you. The coaches are familiar with each others' styles. Regardless of standings, conference play is just different. So don't tell John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats that the Vandy game in Nashville was a foregone conclusion, that they were bound to win it.

You take your league wins. You recognize where your guys are showing improvement. You recognize where your guys are showing you they NEED improvement. You learn. And you teach.

And Calipari was pleased with what he saw from the 'Cats after UK's 71-62 win over Vanderbilt in Nashville's Memorial Gym Saturday afternoon. Plus, it was Kentucky's first road win since last February 2nd.

Kentucky will try to make it back-to-back road scalps Tuesday night at Arkansas. Game time 8PM on WBKR and wbkr.com.
