In the spring, the Southeastern Conference lifted its ban on alcohol sales at sporting events, leaving the decision to sell booze to each school.

The University of Kentucky has decided to decline the conference's permission and not sell alcohol at its sporting events.

So, if you're headed to Kroger Field for a football game or to Rupp Arena for basketball, it'll be soft drinks all the way.

WLKY/Louisville spoke with UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart who says that the university wants to "give families the opportunity to enjoy UK athletics."

Barnhart also indicated there would be no revisiting the decision year in and year out.

However, he did say he would monitor the other SEC schools who decided to jump on board and begin selling alcohol.
