Among the most memorable occurrences of the 2019-2020 college basketball season has been the Evansville Purple Aces' shocking upset of Kentucky in Rupp Arena in November.

Former UK great Walter McCarty guided the Aces to that historic victory.

But McCarty will no longer be guiding Evansville's basketball team after being dismissed by the university Tuesday.

Eyewitness News-WEHT reports that U of E terminated McCarty's employment following an investigation into "alleged sexual misconduct and alleged Title IX violations."

WBKR learned of the university's decision to place McCarty on administrative leave on December 27th. An external investigation into the allegations commenced soon after.

The University of Evansville issued a statement in the form of a letter to the U of E announcing McCarty's dismissal.
