Owensboro’s Military Ball Funds Invaluable Mental Health Services for Kentucky Veterans
Veterans Empowered Together are gearing up for their 2024 Military Ball, which is coming up on Saturday, November 16th at the Owensboro Convention Center. This year marks the third annual event and tickets are on sale now.
The mission for the Military Ball is simple. All the funds raised get funneled into three vital mental health initiatives that V.E.T. oversees. Some of the money raised will help continue the ongoing equine therapy program which, according to V.E.T.'s Brian Basham, has been successful and impactful. A portion will also be used to help pay for veteran therapy sessions with Higdon Therapeutic Services. Remaining funds will help offset the costs of V.E.T.'s "Therapy in Music" program.
That program- which is run by Brian and local musician and philanthropist Randy Lanham- works with veterans to tell their stories through song. It pairs local veterans with singer-songwriters from the area. The goal is simple, but moving. The artists meet with the veterans, hear their stories, and bring their military experience to life through lyrics and melodies. Here's an example.
V.E.T. set a goal to release twelve songs, one each month, in 2024. They just released their 8th and are already working on finalizing the 12th song of the year.
The keynote speaker for the 2024 Military Ball will be Major General Jerry D. Humble from the United States Marine Corp. The evening will also feature a silent auction, dinner, a professional photo op with Dream Copy Photography and entertainment by the Andy Brasher Band.
Tickets are just $70 per person and are available now. All military and veterans get in for free. If you'd like to purchase your tickets now, you can do so by CLICKING HERE!
