Popular Convenience Chain Wawa Plans Kentucky Openings in 2025
I'll begin by doing something I rarely, if ever, do simply because it's rarely, if ever, necessary: Explaining the headline.
Wawa
If I'd left the word "Wawa" out of the mix, wouldn't you have thought I was talking about Buc-ee's? The crazy-popular roadside convenience chain has seemingly taken the country by storm. And if not the country, certainly it's grabbed a hold of Kentucky like a vice grip. Fans of such establishments--like me--get it. When I'm traveling, I want more than just gas pump availability. I want CHOICES. And until I ventured into a Buc-ee's, I had no idea how much I wanted BARBECUE TURKEY SANDWICHES to be sold in a roadside convenience store.
Wawa in Kentucky
Well, good grief. Here I am, going on about Buc-ee's when it's WAWA we're here to go GAGA over. And why not? Kentucky will soon get its first two, and I plan to visit as soon as I can. If you're unfamiliar with the east coast chain, let me help you:
And when those Kentucky Wawa locations open in June in Louisville and Lexington, keep in mind there's a secret menu. (Birthday cake drinks?)
The Wawa brand is 60 years old and is just now expanding beyond its Atlantic coast footprint. That expansion will include even MORE Kentucky locations (and one in the Louisville metro) in 2025's third quarter: Bardstown Road in Louisville, Georgetown, and Clarksville IN.
Just as folks were getting excited about getting to Buc-ee's for a barbecue brisket sandwich, fans in the know will line up at Wawa for their signature hoagies. Sounds good to me. Roadside convenience is taking over, and I am here for it.
