My favorite seasonal sweets, other than my mother's homemade pumpkin squares, of course, are Little Debbie's Christmas Tree Cakes. I typically purchase snack cakes throughout the year, but as soon as I see those bad boys on display, I toss a box in my cart.

That is unless our special elf stops by the studio and hooks us up! We have a special friend who is a Little Debbie distributor. If we are on the nice list for the year, he will drop off Christmas tree cakes during the morning show. Luckily that happened last week and we got to chatting (shocker, I know!)

A Christmas Tree Cake For Each Person in the U.S.

Apparently, Central City and Owensboro were mentioned on a recent call update from Little Debbie headquarters. First, let me give you some fun stats about your favorite sweet treat.

  • As of last week, 3.6 million cases of Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes have been shared among retail stores this season.
  • At 16 boxes per case, that is a LOT of cakes
  • 288 million cakes to be exact have sold as of last Monday.
  • By the time all of the available boxes find homes, there will have been enough Christmas Tree Cakes sold for each person in the United States to have one.

Western Kentucky LOVES Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes

Western Kentucky LOVES Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes so much that a couple of local stores are at the top of the list of retailers. The Central City Wal-mart is in the top 300 for sales. That's pretty impressive for a town of that size! Here's the kicker, Owensboro's Wal-mart on 54 is even higher on that list. It ranks 20th out of all stores in the United States.

Isn't that wild? Have you contributed to those numbers of Little Debbie Cakes sold? I know I am! If you haven't gotten any yet, or you need to replenish your stash, I'd go ahead and get to your nearest grocery that carries them. The word on the street is that there may not be another shipment before Christmas.
