The coronavirus-related death toll continues to climb here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the WBKR listening area.  Earlier today, we learned that Owensboro/Daviess County has suffered its first coronavirus-related death.  Recently, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear asked Kentuckians to follow his lead in turning their homes green to honor victims in the state who have fallen to the virus.  Green is the color of compassion and, consequently, Governor Beshear has taken steps to not only light the outside of the Governor's Mansion green, but he has also asked the same thing to happen at the Kentucky State Capitol.  And it has.

Some local folks have followed Governor Beshear's lead as well.  Here's a photo from Charlene Brown, who last night turned her home green and shared the photo on social media with the hashtags #TeamKentucky #TogetherKY #HealthyAtHome #Patriot and #OwensboroStrong

The Henderson Fire Department has joined the movement too.

If you're looking for green light bulbs so you can join in this powerful movement of solidarity and sympathy, here are some places you can get them.

My friend David Stone, who works at Gordon's True Value, shared this . . .

I stopped by True Value earlier today and picked up two for our house.

You can also purchase green light bulbs, in a variety of styles, at Walmart (where the Browns bought their green rope lights above), Kroger, and Menards.  Normally, you can also purchase them at Home Depot and Lowe's as well.  However, when we contacted those locations this morning, each reported that they were out at this time.
