The various winter weather iterations have delayed Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center in Owensboro from obtaining much needed donations via regular blood drives. Right now, WKRBC is URGENT need of O positive blood.

Both O types of blood are critical for hospital care. Here's how you can help:

The Blood Center is open until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon (Friday) and they will be taking donors tomorrow 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. First of all, to find out your eligibility, please call the Blood Center at 270-684-9296 and ask for the Donor Room. Certain travel, health conditions, or medications may temporarily or permanently prevent you from donating blood. Anyone who is 16 years of age must have a parent or guardian provide consent.

To make an appointment, please call in advance, same number 270-684-9296. Also, on the Blood Center's Facebook page, there is a "Book Now" button which will show you the available times to donate.  WKRBC is located at 3015 Old Hartford Road in Owensboro.
