Of course, a huge part of our annual fundraiser is the Angels for Ashley St. Jude Cookout at Shoe Stop at Wesleyan Park Plaza. Jerry Morris and his Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will again be serving up Boston butts, ribs and chickens. Jerry has an ambitious goal of his own this year. For the last couple of years, he’s been gunning for $100,000. Last year, he was incredibly close. This year, the community is rallying around him to help him achieve his personal goal.

This year’s Radiothon has special significance to Jerry and his family. He’s been in a cancer battle of his own. But Jerry, because he’s Jerry, hasn’t let that stand in his way. Just a couple of weeks ago, he and his wife held a St. Jude Chili Cook-Off at their home in Whitesville. That event raised thousands. This week’s cookout will undoubtedly raise tens of thousands!

Here’s the 2024 menu:

Boston butts (The ‘Best Butt in Town’)- $35 a piece

Full racks of ribs- $25 a piece

Chickens- $12 a piece

LOCATIONS

Wednesday at the Whitesville Mercantile.
Thursday at Shoe Stop, Whitesville Mercantile, Norman McDonald's Country Drive-In, Weber Corner, and Knottsville Water Department.
Friday at Shoe Stop, Whitesville Mercantile, Weber Corner, and Knottsville Water Department.

The Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will be on location each day at 9 AM until everything is sold out. Food is served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Then, Jerry and his Angels for Ashley will join us in the WBKR studio just before 7pm, Friday, February 2nd to announce how much money they raised for St. Jude!  Will Jerry hit $100,000?  Stay tuned!
