Last June, 19-year-old Garrett Ward of Boonville was tragically killed in a boating incident. This year, the Warrick County community is coming together this Saturday, August 29th, for the 2nd Annual "Smokin' for Garrett" BBQ Contest and Benefit. All proceeds will benefit the Garrett Ward Scholarship Fund.

The event will begin with a poker run, registration at 9:30a, $10 per hand, will be at the Aigner Parking Lot in Boonville; all details of the stops will be given at that time. Cash prizes for the winning hands will be at the last stop which is at the Warrick Co. 4H Fairgrounds. A truck/car show will take place with cash prizes for the People's Choice winner. Live music all day beginning at 11am including Tony Givens, One Man Monster, Neil Lewis Yockey & Tommy Jones, Casey Williams, and Boone (Daniel Epperson) closing out the show. BBQ from cooking teams in the Tri-State will be selling from 11a-7p, this will include a BBQ team competition.

A silent auction will be going on all day, all proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.
