Attack Of The Turkey Mites [PHOTOS]
I thought I would make it all summer without a single mosquito bite. I mean, I would get one here and there, but they would go away quick, especially because I didn't scratch them. So the other night, I went to WKU-Owensboro to watch WKU win against Vandy and I sat with my Dad almost the whole time out in chairs out in the grass to see the inflatable screen better. I noticed on Friday I had a few mosquito bites, but Saturday morning I awoke to something more.
It was as if a mosquito or twenty decided to feed on me all night. However, when I retraced my steps, which also included a trip out to the Ohio Co. Park to see my niece's soccer practice for a little bit, the diagnosis was clear. TURKEY MITES!
In my nearly 40 years, I've never had turkey mites. I've had chiggers, which are similar, but they weren't this bad. My sister was the last one to get turkey mites and how did she treat them? A hot bath with a couple of cups of bleach! What?
So the past two days, I've taken a hot bath (a hot bath when it's still sticky and hot outside, not good) with a cup of bleach added, and I've soaked in it each time for 15 minutes. It's the only remedy that cured my sister.
Any other remedies out there?
