Chad Benefield has been with The Country Station, 92.5 WBKR since January of 1998. He joined the WBKR Waking Crew six years ago and, since that time, has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award, won a second runner-up Radio and Production Award, and has guest announced on the stage at The Grand Ole Opry . . . three times!Chad is a frequent visitor backstage at the Opry and broadcasts live from there on a regular basis. Chad’s involvement in country music extends beyond working in radio.Chad is a singer/songwriter and has performed in venues from Kentucky to California. He, along with his songwriting partner DJ Potter, have composed three original songs (“Saints and Angels,” “Soar," and "There's Another Star in the Sky") for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They also composed each track on Jaclyn Graves’ debut CD “Tailgater!” In addition to working as a member of The Waking Crew, Chad also serves as WBKR’s promotion director. He is very involved in community events and charity organizations. He serves as the chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, is an active member of the board of the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics KY and has an instrumental role in the WBKR/WOMI Telecom Pioneers Christmas Wish program. As a matter of fact, he serves as the station’s liaison in that annual endeavor. Chad is also very involved with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and works annually on fundraisers for the March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Heart Association and ACS’ Making Strides event. Chad came to radio from the world of theatre. Before joining WBKR, Chad worked at a youth performing arts group in San Diego, California. He is a produced playwright on both coasts and remains involved in arts education in school systems around the tri-state. When he’s not working, Chad plays softball, tennis and is a slave to trash television! He also still manages to take the stage and perform from time to time. His impersonations of Elton John, Joan Rivers, Richard Simmons and Donkey from “Shrek” are legendary! And, last year at the Lanham Brothers Jamboree, he unveiled his very own take on "The Evolution of Dance." In fact, Chad promises to roll that out again in 2012!

Saturday morning I was sitting at the computer and, on a whim, decided to see if I could find some last minute tickets for the P!nk concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.  As fate (and luck) would have it, I logged onto Ticketmaster just as the arena released a handful of last-minute seats.  Those seats . . . 6 ROWS FROM THE STAGE!  Needless to say I bought them and was absolutely blown away by what I saw.  P!nk was AMAZING!  And there are videos and photos to prove it.  WATCH!

Girl Scout Cookie-Inspired Samoa Bundt Cake Recipe

A couple of days ago, my friend Staci Scott posted this recipe on my Facebook page.  She knows that I am an absolute slave to Girl Scout Cookies . . . specifically the Samoa.  In fact, I emcee the Girl Scouts Desserts First event annually and pretty much do it in exchange for cookies.  Yes, I proudly hold a cardboard sign that says "Will work for Samoas!"  So, imagine my delight to see that Staci found a bundt cake recipe inspired by that very same cookie.  Check this out!

Celebrity Apprentice Debuts Tonight on NBC [Video]

Back in the day, Kelly G used to harp on me to try and get me to watch Celebrity Apprentice.  I finally gave in and quickly learned what she already knew.  It's one of the BEST reality shows on television.  Throw in B, C or D-List celebrities, their huge egos, incredibly difficult fundraising tasks, and Donald Trump's hair flapping in the boardroom, and you have what NBC used to call "Must see TV!"  Tonight, the new season, the All-Star season, debuts.  Take a look at the special sneak peak . . . and keep an eye out for Trace Adkins!

Shoulda Been a Hit: Scotty McCreery’s “Water Tower Town” [Video]

If you know me, you will likely be surprised by this.  My close friends know the extent to which I cringed and coiled in horror when Scotty McCreery won the 10th season of American Idol.  To say that I was not a fan is being polite.  Trust me.  I was NO fan.  But, after seeing Scotty's hilarious Harlem Shake video this week I was reminded of his song "Water Tower Town."  Yes!  Even this former "hater" actually liked a song of his.  And I really believe . . . it SHOULDA been a hit!
