January 18, 2012 Last weekend, Chad and I made the five hour trip down to Memphis, Tennessee. It was for the annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids radio weekend. This was my second year to make the trip and it was amazing! I have learned that any time I'm at St. Jude my heart will leave heavy, but full. And, this weekend was no different.
January 16, 2012 Picture it! The Hines Center in Philpot. Saturday, February 18th. It's freezing a#$ cold outside and you're standing on the dock of The Hines Center lake and hundreds of people are chanting, encouraging you to jump in the freezing cold water that, quite possibly, has big chunks of ice in it. And by "big chunks of ice" I mean the kind that sank the Titanic! And, yet, there you are . . . standing next to Jaclyn Graves and me . . . and we're about to take the Polar Bear Plunge! It's an absolutely AWFUL way to raise money for charity, but, goshdarnit, we're gonna do it! And WE WANT YOU to do it with us!!
January 16, 2012 A couple of years ago, Barb Birgy and I started the tradition of stopping at the North 40 Truck Stop en route to our annual St. Jude Country Cares Seminar. See, that event is full of country music stars and participating radio stations can each bring an item to have autographed. Well, in 2010, Barb and I realized that we had forgotten to get something in advance so we peeled into the North 40 parking lot and that truck stop came through for us . . . with an awesome cowboy hat! So, we decided to make North 40 part of our annual routine. This year, Jaclyn and I hit it up again and we struck gold! WATCH!
December 22, 2011 It seems like it should still be just our first official day of Christmas Wish. Well, actually, today is our last. It's been a roller coaster of a year, to say the least. But, as a community, we pulled together and CW was a great success.
With any charity, we have LOTS of people to thank. Take a look at this list of people and organizations that helped us grant Christmas for over 920 Tri-State families.

December 10, 2011 I've been broadcasting for the past two weeks from the WBKR/WOMI Telecom Pioneers Christmas Wish office. It's such a great place to do my show from, because I really get to see the inner-workings of the CW office. Well.... we need YOUR help!! By Monday, we'll have over 900 letters to fill! And, we are really behind in our monetary and toy/clothes donations. So, I decided to uofficially-officially declare this weekend "Stuff the Christmas Wish office"!
December 5, 2011 WBKR has been involved with Christmas Wish for some 35 years, and for the first time, I believe, he have established a Christmas Wish headquarters outside of Daviess County. What a great idea.
December 5, 2011 This is awesome! Our buddy Mike Spurgeon, with Henderson Chevrolet Buick GMC, came to us earlier this year and told us the dealership really wanted to be a big part of Christmas Wish this year. Not only has Henderson Chevy set up a Christmas Wish tree in their showroom (complete with 50 families up for adoption), they have also given us some amazing electronics for a "blind" auction inside the Christmas Wish office. So, how does a "blind" auction work and what items do we have up for bid? Jaclyn and I do our best impressions of Vanna White and Barker's Beauties to show you. WATCH!
December 3, 2011 Lydia Haycraft is a five year old little girl recently diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. There are two fundraisers for her today, one in Owensboro and one in Bandon, IN. If you can help out this family offset her medical cost, I know they would greatly appreciate it!

November 30, 2011 The 35th annual WBKR/WOMI Telecom Pioneers Christmas Wish office is up and running at Towne Square Mall. We are expecting a very busy year and we are already off to crazy start! At the end of Day Two, we had received just under 400 letters and they continue to pour into the office. We have lots of calls about how you can submit a letter to Christmas Wish, how to make donations, how to volunteer time, what kinds of supplies we need in the office and more. You can learn a good lesson from this story, check your pockets before you give any clothing away for a good cause, An 80 year old man did just that when he accidently gave away his life savings of $13,000 that was sewed in the lining of one of his suits, the very sad news is that his wife has stage 4 Cancer and he was going to use that money to care for his wife, he is appealing to try and get that money back, sure hope he does! God Bless him & his wife.
