I like to think that I don't drive and text. I like to think that I am a safe driver and keep distractions to a minimal. Truth is, I do sometimes send a quick "I'm on my way" or "LOL" response. I've seen the commercials pleading drivers to not text and drive. I was just behind a teenage girl yesterday and I could tell that she had both hands around the steering-wheel, texting away, driving down Frederica. This is not ok. We MUST STOP driving and texting!

Tim McGraw's latest single "The Highway Don't Care" is a beautiful song, I've loved it every since I heard it for the first time. Tim's video for this song acknowledges the problems with texting and driving and is a must see!

PLEASE watch this video and let's all STOP distracted driving!

Anytime anyone gets sick, especially children, we always ask our friends and family to pray for them. And, I absolutely believe that prayers can bring miracles upon the sick. But, I also believe that the combination of medical care AND prayers is the best bet. These parents do not agree with me. Last week, they lost their SECOND child to illness, after prayer-only healing.

Chris Chaberski has the rest of this story...

In 2009, Herbert and Catherine Schaible lost their 2-year-old son, Kent, to bacterial pneumonia—a condition they refused to let a doctor treat, insisting on using only prayer to heal him. Last week, their second son died. He, too, failed to receive any potentially life-saving medical care.

This event is going to be awesome! Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and you can still register.

Chad is always coming up with crazy ideas that I basically have no say-so in and running this course beforehand is his latest! We went out to Diamond Lake Tuesday afternoon and actually ran the entire course! (I'm still sore, I have blisters and my left leg is jacked up!) Although all of the course wasn't constructed yet, we scaled a 6 foot wall (well, I basically face-planted), we crossed grown-man monkey bars, attempted the cargo net and Chad even got in the water for those three obstacles. Watch and be prepared to laugh!

As you all know, I do a lot of work with the American Cancer Society. I am the chairperson of Relay For Life here in Daviess County and I also emcee their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk each fall. I also work, annually, with Susan G. Komen for the Cure's Bowl for a Cure event here in Owensboro. But, somehow, as involved as I am, I totally missed this! Have you seen this video? It's from Rethink Breast Cancer and it was first circulated online about a year ago. And it's absolute genius. Creators of the video wanted to get women to pay attention to really important information about self-examination. And they did it by giving women what they want . . . MEN! Look.

Louisville's Jill Conley was diagnosed with Stage IIIC invasive breast cancer the day before her 32nd birthday. She had only been married six months when she and her husband had to deal with this life-changing news. After two years, Jill was in remission.Twelve months later, at age 35, she was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer.
