A GoFundMe page has just been set up for this beloved 43-year-old mother from Owensboro. The goal is to raise $25,000 to help offset medical expenses that are ahead in her cancer battle.

A dear friend of the family set the page up to help raise awareness and funds for Sara, her husband Jimbo, and daughter Savannah. Sara has been described as caring, generous and someone who always helps those in need.

I asked my friend Mindy to share more about Sara, and their unwavering friendship. "I believe Sara and I were supposed to meet. We met through a family member, Tony Mehlbauer. Her husband Jimbo & my husband Jason were cousins with Tony. He introduced us and we hit it off from there. She’s so much fun to be around and is a true friend that will have your back. I feel like I can tell her anything. Her and Jimbo make you feel like family and that means a lot!", Mindy shared.

Here's what my friend Jackie had to say about Sara. "Sara loves life, always ready for a good time and is always the life of the party. She’s an excellent cook and loves to entertain. Sara has a big heart and would do anything for anyone. She’s also a trustee for the eagles." Jackie shared.

It's easy to see why the Owensboro community is rallying so hard.

I asked about how the diagnosis came about. Jackie said, "This came on pretty sudden. She never complained, but the last week started getting sick. She took a COVID test which was negative, but was still very sick so she went to hospital where they found it."

Social media prayers and well wishes have been pouring in since the diagnosis. More fundraisers and events are being planned and we will keep you posted when we learn more.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

"I’m asking all friends to please pray for my best friend and her husband and daughter. She’s a fighter and I know she won’t stop until she’s beat this. I love her more then words could ever say she’s my person.", Christina Girten
