Yesterday, before our big severe weather event, we got word that the civil defense sirens were not working in Nortonville, KY. That's a pretty frightening situation--one that prompted all of us to stress the importance of having a NOAA Weather Radio in your possession. I had a call from a fellow in Hartford, KY a few minutes ago. He was asking for the Ohio County frequency for his weather radio. A great and relevant question!
So how about that weather last night. I live in the Apollo area and all I heard all night was the twister is coming.
Okay, so here in the tri-state, we're no strangers to severe weather and, unfortunately, the sound of a civil defense siren alerting us to take shelter. But I can't remember the last time in my career that we've had this many tornado warnings in one season--heck, one year! And it's everywhere! The Midwest, the Ohio Valley, the Deep South.
