I've been a regular blood donor for about 4 years. I try to give every two months. But I've been fortunate on the occasions I've forgotten, because I've received phone calls at those times informing me of a shortage of O negative blood, the universal blood type. And, yes, that makes me a universal donor. I got such a call yesterday and went to the blood drive at Walmart on South Frederica to donate today. If you'd like to give the gift of life by donating blood, visit the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center at 3015 Old Hartford Road in Owensboro. The Center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM; Tuesday from 8:30AM to 8PM; Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
