On a cold night, pot roast with carrots and potatoes sounded like a good idea. It's one of my favorite meals. But I hadn't planned on eating the whole roast in the one meal. I also hadn't planned on what happened after making that decision.

After cooking it, I cut off one half of the roast and put in a pot to keep warm until I finished dinner. By the way, that old pot is really old--about 70 years or so. It was my grandmother's. Anyway I covered the roast, and, as it turns out, that was where I made my big mistake.
