Elvis’ Live Performance of ‘An American Trilogy’ Still a July 4th Must [VIDEO]

I heard Chad play it this morning and didn’t realize we had it on our hard drive. But I’m so glad we do. Elvis Presley’s live performance of “An American Trilogy” is as soul-penetrating as anything you’ll ever hear.

I’ve heard it by others–including its arranger Mickey Newbury (and we thank you, Mickey)–but Elvis absolutely has the definitive version.

Then again, I suppose, if Elvis sang ANY song, it became the definitive version.

Happy Independence Day!
