This past Saturday, the Townsquare Media crew had a blast hopping around downtown Owensboro, literally! We loved testing local and local-ish brews at Hops on the Ohio at the Owensboro Convention Center. Followed up with a delicious dinner at the brand-spankin' new Goodwood Owensboro -that Brisket Reuben! holy cow!- and then moseyed on over to Brasher's Lil' Nashville for some live music.

I was surprised to all of a sudden hear a familiar song from a Tiktok video I had seen only a few days prior.  Sure enough, singer-songwriter, Will King, was right up there on stage! Performing his viral parody of the song "Stacy's Mom," by Fountains of Wayne which was a huge hit back in the early 2000s. From the point of view of a young teen boy fantasizing about a crush on his friend's mom, the lyrics hit a little...different now that we're older. Which Will brings to light in his own version "Something's Wrong With Stacy's Mom" seen here in a live performance opening for comedian Trae Crowder in Bowling Green.

If you've never heard of, or seen the original, here you go. Just FYI, it's pretty spicy as you can tell from the screengrab! But gives reference to why it's creepy for Stacy's mom to be acting the way she does.

Will is a Southeastern Kentucky fella, born and raised close to Pikeville.  He moved to Nashville to pursue music and decided to go for a more comedic route. After seeing him perform and watching his other videos, I can see why.  He is incredibly clever and his parodies of popular country, pop, and rock songs sound like a little sprinkle of Weird Al here, a pinch of Bo Burnham, and a dash of Tyler Childers all combined.

He has SO many good ones too! This re-write of JoDee Messina's song "Heads Carolina, Tails California" is hysterical and totally relatable to anyone in a relationship struggling to answer the age-old question of "What's for dinner?" In our house, it's always me asking Michael to "give me some options." Why is it so hard to decide?!

Brasher's basically turned into a sing-along Saturday night as Will played some awesome medleys of songs and country favorites. His laid-back vibe had folks dancing, laughing, and having a ball. It's me! I'm folks! But really, give this guy a follow. He has so many great videos and looks to be performing at some pretty cool events in the near future including the Kentucky Comedy Festival in Murray, KY October 20th.
