Oh, I think I just had a major nostalgic flashback to my high school years. It happens when you learn that two musical icons from your teen years plan to perform 100 miles away from your home.

I could not get enough of listening to the radio when I was in high school. I listened to Casey Kasem's countdown every week and went to the library to read Billboard magazine with the same frequency. (No, a subscription was off the table; it was expensive then, and it's expensive now.)

If YOU listened to pop radio at all in the 1980s, there's no way you could not hear a Lionel Richie song. The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer never missed a beat when he left the Commodores for a superstar solo career, and THIS was his biggest solo hit.

Lionel Richie Is Coming to Louisville

And on June 12th, after what's sure to be another successful season of judging and mentoring on American Idol, Lionel Richie is coming to Louisville's KFC Yum! Center.

The ceilings are a little high at KFC-Yum, so you won't mind if the 73-year-old legend stays grounded on the stage, will you? Thought not.

Earth, Wind, & Fire to Join Lionel Richie in Louisville

You also likely will not mind if he brings a legendary R&B band with him, right? I'm telling you, except for when they play their smash ballad "After the Love Has Gone," you won't be able to stay seated when Earth, Wind, & Fire lights up downtown Louisville.

Also members of the Rock Hall, EWF has won seven Grammys--six of them competitive and one as part of their Grammy Lifetime Achievement honor.

Seriously, if you're like me, you'll just have to get up when they fire this one up:

Or this one, their biggest hit of the 80s.

Ticket presale begins Wednesday, January 17th with sales to the general public to begin Friday, January 19th at 10 AM Eastern.

The '80s Most Outrageous Rock Fashion

In the same way that ducktails defined the '50s and bell bottoms became shorthand for the '70s, neon-lit sartorial choices can be firmly placed in the Reagan years.
