I don't imagine it takes much nudging to convince anyone within comfortable driving distance to visit Mammoth Cave National Park. Since folks from all over the world make it vacation destination, that's an easy guess.

I also don't think you need to "add" anything to the Mammoth Cave experience to make it more attractive. But Kentucky cave country is forever busy enticing tourists, and the return of an old favorite will likely do the trick. It's been a minute, but the Mammoth Cave Stagecoach makes its return this weekend.

For the last time, the Mammoth Cave Stagecoach will be pulled by a four-horse team. And when those horses are gone the coach will set up permanent residence at the Mammoth Cave Lodge after its renovations are complete. The festivities will begin Saturday, August 12th at 11:30 AM.

Now, here's something you may not know about that old stagecoach which has been beautifully restored. It was once ROBBED by Jesse James.

You could really fill a long weekend in Kentucky cave country WITHOUT the stagecoach presentation, but now you REALLY could. There's so much to do in an around Hart County. That cool, nostalgic Kentucky Action Park has reopened at Cave City, for one thing. And, of course, there's everything possible at Mammoth Cave itself. If you've never been, here's some of what you can expect.

And don't forget...Mammoth Cave isn't the only cave in town, so to speak. The Hidden River Cave and Mammoth Onyx Cave are also well worth your time.

Maybe this weekend--with the reappearance of the stagecoach--is the weekend you spend some time taking a "deep dive" into south central Kentucky.
