The City of Owensboro’s Annual War on Potholes Has Begun

If you have noticed pesky potholes around town, now is your chance to report them. I don't know about you, but there are a couple in my neck of the woods I can't wait to turn in and get taken care of. Owensboro's annual "War on Potholes" has returned and officials are asking the community to help identify problem areas in the roads.

Why Are There So Many Potholes?

The weather changing from cold to warm over and over the past several months, weakens the asphalt making is susceptible to breaking apart and forming potholes. There are some areas around town that look pretty gnarly. I know there is one reoccurring pothole in particular by Owensboro Catholic High School on Parrish that has caused damage to some vehicles in the past.

Be careful as you drive your morning route and keep an eye out for any bad potholes that need attention. From April 22nd to April 26th, you can report their locations to the city public works department for repair.

How to Report a Pothole in Owensboro

If you have a pothole you would like to report, contact City Action by calling 270-687-4444 or you can email: cityaction@owensboro.org. It's best if you can be as specific as you can when describing the location of the potholes with street addresses, intersections, or identifying nearby landmarks.

Road crews plan to perform repairs in the reported areas from April 29th -May 10th. Any damage that is reported on county or state-maintained roads will also be repaired. "We will pass the location of potholes on state or county streets to the proper officials.  Our goal is to have every pothole in the City identified and patched as quickly as possible. Please help us to maintain our quality road system by reporting potholes!"
