I was getting gas at a convenience store in front of Rose Hill Cemetery at the corner of Breckenridge Street and Old Hartford Road at around 9PM on Wednesday night right about the time everything went dark and the night sky was lit up with an eerie yellow and blue glow.

Walking around to the side of the store I could see the dancing lights (flames, I'm assuming) and smoke rising into the air from what I soon learned was a substation that had exploded near the Kelly Lane intersection of Old Hartford Road.

I got a hold of my sister, who doesn't live very far from that substation, and she had seen it happen, too, and was surrounded by darkness.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and power was restored after little more than an hour.
