Saturday, February 10th, they'll be firing up the grills and the pits at the Whitesville Mercantile to raise money for a local organization that works on behalf of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

If you're unfamiliar with Puzzle Pieces, the nonprofit's vision is this. They're dedicated to bringing visibility to disabilities through education and awareness.

Puzzle Pieces serves all age ranges. At current time, their youngest client is 18-months-old. Their oldest is 57.

A prime example of that mission and their success in fulfilling it is Jeff Rhinerson. The Owensboro, Kentucky man recently became the first person with Down syndrome to be sworn in as an employee of the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.

Jeff's story made local, state and national news and he's now working as a deputy for the department at the Judicial Center downtown. There's a good chance you'll have the chance to meet Jeff at the picnic this Saturday. In fact, we're expecting several Puzzle Pieces clients to be on hand for the event.

As for the menu, Jerry and the Angels for Ashley are going to be cooking up hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and pulled pork nachos. And, they will have about 50 Boston butts as well that will be priced at $25 a piece. Those Boston butts are first come, first served and are expected to go quickly.

The Puzzle Pieces Picnic at Whitesville Mercantile will get underway at 9am and, like with most Angels for Ashley events, will continue until the food is gone.

The Whitesville Mercantile is located at 9935 West Street. As you drive into Whitesville, just follow the smoke and the smell of delicious food!
