Daviess County Public Schools have been selected as a $25,000 winner in the Monsanto Fund’s America’s Farmers Grow Rural EducationSM.

That is a program that gives farmers the opportunity to nominate their public school district to apply for a grant, that is based on merit, to enhance math and science education

Wizard of Oz – Christmas Style

On Thursday, December 13, the Eagle Family Performers of Apollo High School are presenting “A Christmas Wizard of Oz”. The play features these characters and the actros who will portray them:  Dorothy (Bree Sapp) and Toto (Tyler Lamar), are carried by a snow blizzard to the Magical Elfinsland, where they meet Glinda, the Good Witch of the North (Arielle Jones).

East View Suns Meet the Stars – Real Ones!

East View Elementary School is hosting an astronomy night titled “Suns Meet the Stars” tomorrow night at 7:00. The event will take place on the hill on the school campus, 6104 Kentucky 405.  Facilitated by science instructor Dennis Millay, a.k.a. Mr. D, and led by students in the East View Elementary School Student Technology and Leadership Program, East View families and friends are invited to take a guided walk across the stars, using iPads and astronomy applications to accomplish this.

Save The Date: DCPS Alumni and Friends Festival Weekend!

This is going to be really fun!  The Foundation for the Daviess County Public Schools is holding its first-ever Alumni & Friends Festival Weekend on Friday, August 24th and Saturday, August 25th.  And organizers are encouraging you to SAVE THE DATE!  Think "high school reunion" ... but with EVERY class of Daviess County High School and Apollo High (and all Daviess County middle and elementary schools) all rolled into one.  The Alumni & Friends Festival Weekend is going to be a wonderful weekend of fellowship, memories and celebration of the Daviess County Public School System.  And here's a sneak peak at some of the activities that are planned!

A NASCAR-themed Back to School Day — Daviess County Public Schools Action Packed Opening Day Tuesday

The Daviess County Public Schools district is hosting an action-packed Opening Day program at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the Apollo High School gym. The school is located at 2280 Tamarack Road. The entire staff and faculty of the DCPS district will be in attendance at this event.

Daviess County Public Schools 2011-2012 Back-To-School Information

First day of school for Daviess County students is Wednesday, Aug. 10. Can you believe it??

Lora Wimsatt, Public Relations, Daviess County Schools says, "Parents and students are encouraged to attend these events. For more information, contact the school your child will attend. Students who are new to the district (first time attending a DCPS school) may register between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily at their school. The following documents are required: Birth certificate, Social Security card, medical exam, Kentucky immunization certificate, Kentucky eye exam, dental exam and proof of address. Call your school or 852-7000 for more information."
