2012 Daviess County Relay For Life TONIGHT!!

The 2012 Daviess County Relay For Life is tonight at Diamond Lake Campground and Resort. This will be the third year in a row the event has been held at Diamond Lake's go-cart track and we're fully expecting breaking attendance records for a 3rd straight year. I am pleased to serve as the chairperson of this great event (alongside by buddy, Jason Abney) and we and the committee have been hard at work for months to make this year's Relay in Daviess County the biggest and best yet. I was talking earlier with News25 Chief Meteorologist Wayne Hart and he mentioned that while we will continue to experience excessive heat at least through this weekend, we likely won't be seeing anything like the 126 degree heat index we had last week. It's just that this heat wave is lasting longer. So we will all be seeking ways in which keep cool. Steve Horn gave us some good ideas for the indoors. But some of us have to be outdoors. And there are those of us who may not be able to keep our homes as comfortable as we'd like. Thank goodness, then, for relief shelters.

Yes, Daviess is spelled incorrectly in the headline and I promise I will explain soon! But, in the meantime . . . last night, I had the honor of emceeing the 2011 Miss Daviess County Pageant! The event is the annual kick-off for the Daviess County Lions Club Fair and 12 contestants were on hand at The Hines Center to compete for the crown and sash! After the last swimsuit was spray-glued, the final evening gown was worn, the final on-stage question asked and answered, a beauty queen was crowned! Ladies and gentleman, we are proud to introduce the 2011 Miss Daviess County . . . BAYLI QUINN BOLING!

The 2011 Daviess County RELAY FOR LIFE is coming up Friday night at Diamond Lake Campground and Resort! It's an amazing evening of celebration and remembrance and each and everyone of you is invited to come out and join in the fun! This is my 2nd year serving as the Chairperson of Relay in Daviess County and my committee and I have worked so hard to make this event one of the county's most spectacular. And I promise you, Friday night is going to knock your socks off and we are going to put up one helluva fight against CANCER! You know . . . the old saying goes . . . Cancer never sleeps and we won't either. You are d%@$ right!
