Dierks Bentley‘s father, Leon Bentley, died on Friday, June 1. The singer was forced to cancel shows beforehand, and in the wake of his dad’s death, tweeted the news to fans, thanking them for their support. He also took a moment to reflect on the fact that his father was his biggest influence in country music, since his dad’s listening habits turned him onto the genre as a young kid.

Dierks Bentley, via Twitter, announced that his father passed away Friday, June 1st. He posted a thoughtful message and very touching photo as well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dierks and his family at this difficult time.

Long before they'll make the Big O Music Fest stage at Reid's Orchard part of their summer, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, and David Nail will be performing at  "Bama Rising: a Benefit Concert for Alabama Tornado Recovery."  He'll be joined by a host of other artists, including Alabama who will be headlining the event.
