Teenagers Steal the Night at The 2014 Battle for the Big O Finale [Video]

You have likely heard by now that The Josh Merritt Band were crowned the champions of the The Battle for the Big O on Saturday night at Diamond Lake's Good Time Theatre.  And they were INCREDIBLE!!  But a trio of teenagers gave the group (and everyone else) a huge run for their money.  They told the crowd they actually had to Google "old country" to find some songs that may be appropriate for this year's Liquid Ninja Big O Music Fest.  And, by their performance of Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight", I think they may have found just the right one.  WATCH!

WBKR Battle for the Big O Finalist #9: Kennedy McCollam & Riley Roth [Video]

The auditions are in the books and the playing field is set!  And the 2014 Battle for the Big O finale  will feature twelve of the best acts our annual talent search has ever attracted.  We have $1,000 up for grabs and the chance to open the 2014 Liquid Ninja Big O Music Fest.  And this young lady from Owensboro is one of our youngest finalists ever and she is proof that patience and hard work pay off.  Kennedy McCollam auditioned at two of our Battle auditions and was passed over by the judges.  But, at Beaver Dam Park in Ohio County, Kennedy showed up with guitarist Riley Roth and the two blasted their way into the finale.  Check out the rendition of "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" that earned them a spot!

Owensboro's Kennedy McCollam, who was so impressive when she sang for us during the 2013 St. Jude Radiothon, has moved into the semifinals of the Kentucky Opry Talent Search.  And she earned her spot there with this rousing rendition of Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel."  This is beautiful!

This girl is incredible.  12-year-old Owensboro singer Kennedy McCollam recently competed in a talent competition at the Kentucky Opry.  And she slayed the competition and snagged the People's Choice award with her powerful rendition of "How Great Thou Art."  Check this out!

Local Stars Come Out for St. Jude Radiothon’s Celebrity Phone Bank

Our 10th annual WBKR St. Jude Radiothon presented by Poole's Pharmacy Care is coming up Thursday and Friday, February 21st and 22nd.  And, again, we have many local celebrities and musicians joining us to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.  This year's line-up is our biggest and best yet and we are THRILLED so many folks are sharing their voices, music and talents to help us in our efforts.  Check out the full schedule of entertainment!

Owensboro Girl Wins “Stand Up & Sing” Contest in Nashville [Video]

This is really cool and this little gal is REALLY good!  12-year-old Kennedy McCollam of Owensboro recently competed in the Stand Up & Sing competition at Belcourt Taps in Nashville.  And she won!  She took first place in the Grand Finals by belting out an Etta James classic.  Take a listen and watch as Kennedy wows the crowd with her rendition of "I'd Rather Go Blind!"
