Once you've put away all the giant jack-o'-lanterns, ghosts, Jack Skellingtons, and Slimers, hang on to that Viking costume you were awfully proud of. You just might need it come the first weekend of November.

Sure, you might just ENJOY walking around all costumed up when there isn't a special occasion for such an activity, but there IS a special occasion for such an activity. And yes, you will NEED that Viking costume for it.

The Kentucky Renaissance Fair loads up its schedule annually with wonderfully unique events, and there may be none more "out of the box" than the Fenrir Viking Festival in Eminence KY.

Now, I have seen quite a few re-enactments--Revolutionary and Civil Wars among them--but I have NEVER seen a Viking re-enactment, and my mind can't help but running away with itself. While searching for previous examples of the Fenrir Viking Festival, I only came across previous incarnations of the annual Kentucky Renaissance Fair. However, the most recent fair featured the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival Viking Weekend, which could give you a very good idea of what to expect.

As for what kind of merchandise and cuisine to expect? Have a closer look at this enormous list:

Imagine how long visiting all of THOSE booths will take you, and then add to it this schedule:

So, what do you think? When Spooky Season comes to an end, and you're just far enough away from Thanksgiving and Christmas to do very much with regard to those holidays, maybe you gear for a big Scandinavian weekend?

Maybe you deserve a break that weekend and need to unwind with a big tankard of mead.
