It was on this date in 1998, Tammy Wynette died at home of a blood clot in the lungs  at the age of 55.  She was called, "The First Lady of Country Music" and her long string of hits proved it so. Stand By Your Man, a classic 1968 song co-written by Tammy and her record producer Billy Sherrill was her signature song.

Five months after her death she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

In 1983 Moon Mullins had his picture taken with her at the World's Fair in New Orleans. For the sake of this article the others in the photo were cropped out.

Sing on Tammy, still the First Lady.
