Local Artist Aaron Kizer Leads This Year’s Christmas Parade in Owensboro

The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is coming up on Saturday, November 22nd. The theme of this year's parade is "It's Christmastime in the city" and participants are encouraged to decorate their floats and entries around that specific Yuletide theme.

Themes are a longtime tradition of the parade. Here's another- the naming of the Grand Marshal. This year's choice truly needs no introduction.

In the last decade or so, Aaron Kizer has established himself as one of the most recognizable talents in our area. In fact, his skill was on full display just a couple of weeks ago during Owensboro's brand new Illuminate festival. Aaron designed a 'blacklight' mural that now resides permanently near the Owensboro Riverfront. It's gorgeous enough during the day. At night, it's magical.

Now, Kizer will be showcased in another exciting way downtown. He will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade. That announcement was made today by longtime parade committee member Jane Head and parade spokesperson Kirk Kirkpatrick.

The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade will begin at 4:30pm, Saturday, November 22nd. The parade runs along 2nd Street downtown. It will again be broadcast live by Owensboro Times and coverage will be hosted by yours truly and Jane Head.

HOW TO ENTER THE OWENSBORO-DAVIESS COUNTY CHRISTMAS PARADE

If you'd like to be a part of the parade, there's still time to register. The Early Bird Rate is in effect until midnight on October 31s. However, applications will be accepted through November 10th at standard entry rates. For more information, you can CLICK HERE!

THE BIGGEST PARADE IN KENTUCKY?

The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade, which dates back to 1937, is the largest holiday parade in Kentucky. It's also the second largest parade of any kind in the state, second only to the Louisville's Pegasus Parade.
