Barge Slams into Smothers Park in Downtown Owensboro

Well, this doesn't happen every day.  But a barge slammed into Smothers Park in downtown Owensboro this afternoon causing minor damage.

Here's a pic from Shaelie Clark of 14 News. She raced to the scene when news of the accident broke and posted this photo to Twitter.

Authorities say the barge broke free from its tug boat and drifted into the flood wall of Smothers Park.
