If you are looking to purchase something and save money this time of year, your BBB® has done some research on this topic and wishes to share with consumers a few tips and tricks. Now that the holidays are over, here are 7 items worth considering:

Bedding and linens

If you feel like your bedroom could use an upgrade, January is probably a good month for that! The discounts are massive and the options—countless. In 1878, John Wanamaker, a department store manager from Philadelphia, came up with an ingenious way to increase foot traffic during winter: he kicked off a huge linens sale also known as the “white sale”. After this infamous initiative, bedding discounts became a tradition for all major retailers.

Toys

If you have kids, you may not want to let them know that toys are on sale in January! Everything that didn’t sell before the holidays is now at a fraction of the original price. So, what do you think: buy it now, gift it late?

Treadmills and elliptical machines

Treadmills and elliptical machines appeal to everyone who vowed to get fit in the new year. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before buying one of these machines: test it before you buy it, choose a folding treadmill over a regular one (it will save you a lot of space, up to six square feet), you can always try to negotiate the price, even if it’s already discounted.
