Believe it or Not, The Best Fried Chicken in Kentucky is Not KFC
For those of us who are Kentucky natives, I know the title of this article doesn't come as a shock. If you live in the Bluegrass state, chances are your favorite fried chicken is from a locally owned joint or mom & pop restaurant rather than Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Indi's Fast Food Restaurant is Heaven on Earth
If I was craving some crispy bird and was able to teleport, I'd go straight to Indi's in Louisville. There's just something about ordering through bullet-proof glass that makes the food taste better, I think. The angels that fry up that chicken and those wedges are earning jewels in their crown for sure. The sides, the cobbler, the homemade lemonade, *mmmmmm* everything will make you do that little dance while you clean your plate.
Best Fried Chicken in Kentucky
However, surprisingly, that is not the restaurant that has been chosen as the most recent best friend chicken spot in Kentucky either. According to diners who use the website and app Yelp, another local eatery is the top dog -er- rooster.
Royals Hot Chicken in Louisville, KY
Lordy, Lordy, look at that! No wonder Royal's Hot Chicken is considered the best. They have chicken and sides that will make your mouth water just from looking at a picture. Even though the word "Hot" is in the name, you can choose your heat level and that includes none. All chicken comes in classic style when it comes to sandwiches or tenders.
They also make lemonade slushies, cocktails, and delicious shakes for dessert. Gotta cool your tastebuds after that spice!
