Suppose you woke up and heard the news that the Louisville Slugger factory was shutting down, and operations were transferring to Omaha. Then you start saying "Omaha Slugger" in your head over and over again until you realize that that will NEVER work.

KFC Moving Out of Kentucky

Relax. Louisville Slugger manufacturing isn't going anywhere. But another iconic Kentucky brand is headed "out the door," and, I have to say, it comes as a big surprise. According to Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs, as quoted in The Lane Report, KFC's relocation to Plano TX and Irvine CA is all about "sustainable growth and better service to its customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders."

KFC HQ Moving to Texas and California

The Yum! Brand is the parent company of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger & Grill (never heard of it).

Top Fried Food in Texas

Okay, so Yum! is headed to Plano TX. Since chicken is usually the first thing that comes to mind when you consider fried specialties in Kentucky, I thought we could take a look at the number one fried offering--or, at least, one of the most POPULAR fried foods--in the Lone Star State. I've never heard of fried avocado tacos, and now I'll see them in my dreams.

Top Fried Food in California

Since Irvine CA is getting a KFC HQ, I thought we'd dive into the Golden State's favorite fried concoction, and it cracks me up. In ALL of the nation's most populous state and the world's fifth-largest economy, THIS tops the fried food popularity survey:

Hilarious. California's favorite fried food is chicken (and not KFC), and it's NASHVILLE hot chicken.

I guess I can't give a side-eye to KFC moving out of Kentucky anymore.
