You spoke and Chick-fil-A's Frederica Street location in Owensboro listened. After a few months of running a 'merge' experiment in the franchise's drive-thru lanes, the incredibly popular (and busy) local restaurant is going back to three separate lanes. To the delight of Chick-fil-A's devoted customer base, that announcement came Saturday on social media. However, there will be a slight change to what customers are used to.

Starting today (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), there will again be three drive-thru lanes. However, the inside lane (instead of the far outside lane) will be dedicated to mobile app orders. The middle lane and the outside lane will now be the two "traditional order taking lanes."

Yes, the first thing you will notice is that you do NOT have to wrap around the building anymore!! That's a huge improvement.

It's true that Chick-fil-A is one of the most efficient fast food restaurants in the city. According to store management, the Frederica Street location 'continues to push more than 200 cars for peak hours.' Honestly, their commitment to constantly improving that number is why they recently ran their experiment in the first place. However, customers overwhelmingly preferred the three-lane approach. I was one of them. The first day I was asked to merge, I immediately questioned why. Yes. I am that guy. It seems there were a lot of us.

John, who's the store's general manager, shared a video tutorial on Facebook yesterday in advance of today's big shift.

With an increase in mobile app ordering, Chick-fil-A's Frederica Street location seeks to raise the number of cars it moves through the drive-thru hourly from 200 to 300.
