The return to in-person instruction for high school students in the Daviess County Public School System is happening earlier than expected.  In fact, according to a news release obtained this morning, the district will welcome grades 9-12 back to class starting on Wednesday, September 23rd.  However, that return will happen in very specific phases (outlined below).

Students at Apollo, Daviess County and Heritage Park High School whose families opted for the In-Person/A-B Schedule for their students will now prepare for their return to in-person class.  Some of those students will return next week.

According to DCPS, "The transition will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for FRESHMEN assigned to Group A. That will be a full day of orientation and enrichment/intervention and then will begin in-person instruction every Monday and Tuesday starting Monday, Sept. 28."

Then, FRESHMEN students in Group B will begin their phased-in return with orientation set for Wednesday, September 30th.  They'll then begin their in-person instruction on Thursday, October 1st.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are on their VIRTUAL schedule for the week of Sept 28th.  They'll begin in-person instruction following Fall Break- October 12th through the 16th.

A reminder of how the DCPS A-B Schedule works:  "On the A-B schedule, students in Group A attend in-person classes on Monday and Tuesday; participate in digital learning on Wednesday; and participate in hybrid learning on Thursday and Friday. Students in Group B participate in hybrid learning on Monday and Tuesday; digital learning on Wednesday; and in-person instruction on Thursday and Friday."

Also, for reference, all students whose families selected the Virtual Academy will continue virtually until at least the end of the semester.
